Summit Electric, based in Kamloops British Columbia, offers end-to-end services of electrical systems in the mining, forestry, and oil & gas industry. In 2016, Summit was contracted by IG Machine Fiber in Ashcroft B.C. to run new fiber connections to different industrial components and to design a small fiber optic ring within the plant.

1. Time Constraints:
Rob Young of E.B. Horsman & Son, who has been servicing the Summit account in that region, expressed the importance of this job and the need for efficiency due to time constraints.
2. Training/Experience requirements:
The electricians at Summit Electric requested a refresher on fiber termination and network design to optimize the design, installation, and performance of the network.
Upon Rob Young’s request, the Data Communication team at E.B. Horsman offered an on-site fiber termination training session using Panduit FCAMKIT and Panduit’s OptiCam connectors. The half-day session involved four electricians from Summit Electric and five from IG Machine Fiber. After the training session, Summit Electric completed the job within two days and IG Machine Fiber was satisfied with the results.
