Siemens Peterborough Continues to Expand

Siemens investment in the 63 year old Peterborough factory is not stopping any time soon. After $7 million investment between 2014 and 2016, and $3 million in the last year, Siemens says the 637,331 square-foot facility is staying in Peterborough for a long time. Half of the $3 million went into building renovations and the other half into manufacturing; some were for office renovations, floor upgrading and air-exchange systems, while others were for new machinery and equipment to support large production.

As a result of this continuous investment and development, the company changed its time-to-market from 11 days to half a day and doubled its market share compared to in 2000. The Peterborough factory now supports nearly all of Siemens process instrumentation products -- producing 10,000 units a year.
