In our 120th Anniversary year, we are pleased to award the E.B. Horsman & Son EFC scholarships, through the Electro-Federation Canada Scholarship Program, to Talisha Leilani Griesbach, Colin Noort, and Dave Allum.

Talisha Leilani Griesbach

Talisha Leilani Griesbach is working towards her Integrated Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) degree at the University of British Columbia. Talisha is actively pursuing her passion working as an Electrical Test Engineering Intern at Kardium, helping to develop medical devices. Her free time is spent playing the cello and contributing back to her community through mentorship and charitable causes. "Receiving the E.B. Horsman & Son (EBH) scholarship through Electro-Federation Canada means a lot to me, by giving me the opportunity to focus on creating a memorable, successful, and enriching college experience. Although working part-time has decreased my financial worries, most of my expenses still weigh on my shoulders. Without the need to increase my part-time job hours, I can be more selective about how I choose to use my time. I can volunteer and study with peace of mind that I am well-supported financially. Most importantly, the scholarship boosts my confidence that my work is recognized, meaningful and propels me to achieve so much more than I can imagine. Thank you so much for choosing me as a recipient for this scholarship."

Colin Noort

Colin Noort is working towards his Mechanical Engineering Technology degree at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Colin expressed his intrigue with engineering, which led him to projects such as programming and control of a delta robot, serving as a Peer Tutor to fellow students in the Mechanical Engineering Department at BCIT, leading to his future aspirations working in the renewable energy industry. Colin enjoys a variety of outdoor activities in his free time, including strategy board and card games. "What it means to me to receive this scholarship is that I can continue to pursue my degree, and my goal of graduating at the top of my class, with overall less stress and more peace of mind. The financial aid provided to me through this scholarship means I will have to work less throughout the year, and as a result, I can focus more on my studies, which is my true passion. I am incredibly appreciative of the generosity of E.B. Horsman & Son. Thank you."

Dave Allum

Dave Allum is working towards his Construction Electrician diploma at Okanagan College. He is currently working as an Apprentice at Betts Electrical Limited on a full-time basis while he pursues his formal education. Dave's interest in electricity, apt for problem solving and challenges has led him to pursuing the Electrician trade. He has also gained interest in various aspects of power distribution, controls and automation as well as solar technologies. His free time is enjoyed outdoors as an avid mountain biker and hiker. "I'm surprised and pleased to have been awarded this scholarship. It's great to see that E.B Horsman recognize the dedication and hard work required to become a successful journeyman, this reward will help me achieve my future goal".
