EB Horsman’s 125-Year Legacy: Spotlight on Our Edmonton Distribution Centre

EB Horsman’s Edmonton Distribution Centre, DC 2, officially opened its doors on May 6, 2024, in the Northwest Industrial area of Edmonton. This state-of-the-art facility triples our warehouse capacity, allowing us to expand product availability, diversify our offerings, improve delivery times, and provide even better support to our valued customers.

The Edmonton Distribution Centre is led by Chris Crockart, Distribution Centre Manager, and supported by a dedicated team of six. Chris joined EB Horsman in April 2018 after a 28-year career with UPS. His journey began when he reconnected with Roy Bragg, former VP of Operations, on the golf course—a conversation that launched his “second career” with EB Horsman. Starting as Shipping Supervisor, then Receiving Supervisor, Chris was promoted to DC Manager in November 2018.

Our Edmonton DC distinguished itself with a seamless launch, as the entire team transitioned from BC’s Distribution Centre to Edmonton, allowing the new facility to achieve operational excellence from day one. With a picking accuracy of 99.98%, the centre consistently meets the high expectations of its customers. The Edmonton DC also provides enhanced customer support, featuring a customer pick-up area, priority desk, and project staging capabilities, all backed by a skilled and dedicated warehouse service team to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

The Edmonton DC combines speed, capacity, and efficiency to better serve customers across the region. With overnight delivery to Edmonton, Calgary, Dawson Creek, Cranbrook, and Saskatoon, products reach customers quickly and reliably. The expanded warehouse space enables a broader inventory, meeting growing demands with ease. Meanwhile, a paperless Warehouse Management System (WMS) and the use of electrified forklifts streamline operations while reflecting EB Horsman’s commitment to sustainable and efficient practices.

The Edmonton Distribution Centre team is proud to be actively involved in supporting the communities we serve. In 2024, the team enthusiastically participated in Work Out to Conquer Cancer, contributing over $4,000 to EB Horsman’s overall fundraising efforts.
