EB Horsman’s 125-Year Legacy: Spotlight on Our Head Office & Surrey Distribution Centre

As we celebrate 125 years of service, we turn our attention to the center of our operations: our Head Office and Distribution Centre (DC1) in Surrey, BC. Since its opening in 2011, this facility has played a crucial role in shaping EB Horsman’s legacy of community, service, and operational excellence.

Our Head Office and Distribution Centre officially opened in 2011 and has since expanded to an impressive 103,000 sq. ft., facitlity, enabling us to serve our customers faster and more efficiently than ever before. Currently, 54 employees support corporate functions at the Head Office, while 25 team members operate within our Distribution Centre.

Home to departments including Executive Leadership, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, IT, and Purchasing, the Head Office provides the foundational support needed for EB Horsman to thrive. Our customer-first mindset is at the core of everything we do, driving decisions around technology, partnerships, and continuous improvement. This centralized leadership team ensures that our values of integrity, teamwork, and service excellence are reflected in every customer interaction and that our branches across Western Canada receive the support they need to deliver knowledgeable, personalized service

Strategically located in Surrey, BC, our centralized DC is the core of our logistics operations, shipping daily to our branches across British Columbia. With over 22,000 products in stock, a 99.953% picking accuracy rate, and a powerful Warehouse Management System (WMS) in place, our DC is built to meet customer demands quickly, accurately, and sustainably

At our Head Office and Distribution Centre, community engagement is a deeply rooted part of who we are. Our team is committed to supporting meaningful causes through initiatives such as local food bank drives, environmental clean-up efforts, and jeans day BBQs with proceeds going to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. We also foster a strong sense of togetherness through festive events like Halloween costume contests, gingerbread house decorating, and our beloved chili cook-off. These gatherings not only bring joy to our workplace but also reflect the spirit of generosity and unity that defines the EB Horsman culture.

Our team is what makes the magic happen. One shining example is Kyle Irving, who began his journey with EB Horsman 10 years ago as a Materials Handler. Over the years, he advanced to Supervisor and now serves as our Distribution Manager. He’s also working toward earning his Professional Logistician (P.LOG) designation, embodying our value of continuous growth and leadership from within.

Here’s a fun piece of EB Horsman history: our original store was located in Moosomin, Saskatchewan!  Today, our primary Head Office is in Surrey, BC, with a secondary corporate division in Port Kells. More than just a headquarters, our Surrey location is the starting point of many of EB Horsman’s signature programs, including Empower, Giving Back, and our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The Head Office team brings a wealth of creativity and inspiration to the table, developing new ideas, supporting company-wide initiatives, and helping our entire organization grow stronger every day

To mark this incredible milestone, the Head Office and DC teams have proudly taken part in a series of anniversary celebrations. From custom 125th lapel pins to heritage blankets representing the warmth and strength of our team, each token is a tribute to the culture and legacy we’ve built together. Branches including our Head Office and DC have also been decorated with special anniversary decals, and we’ve launched exciting contests in collaboration with our supplier partners. A highlight is the staff photo contest, sponsored by RAB Design, with winning entries featured throughout our locations.

And the celebrations aren’t over yet. Our DC team is already planning a team-building event in the coming months to continue honouring this special year.
