EB Horsman’s 125-Year Legacy: Spotlight on Our Saskatoon Branch

Branch Overview

Our Saskatoon branch is renowned for delivering exceptional service, having earned the recognition of “Best Counter Customer Service in Saskatoon” among our customers. The branch is home to 10 dedicated employees, led by District Manager Mike Swedja. The branch became part of EB Horsman & Son in 2018 through the acquisition of Intec Controls, bringing specialized expertise in Process, Automation & Controls (PAC) to our operations.

Our Saskatoon branch is located on Treaty 6 Territory, the traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travel route for the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. Our facility is in the New North Industrial area of Saskatoon, in an 8,500 sq ft building with easy access and ample parking. The branch is just minutes west of Saskatoon’s newest bridge, the Chief Mistawasis Bridge.

What Sets Our Saskatoon Branch Apart

What sets our Saskatoon branch apart is our commitment to customer service. Providing exceptional service begins with genuine communication and a clear understanding of our customers’ needs. By actively listening and responding promptly, we ensure every concern is addressed with care and efficiency. Building strong relationships based on trust and empathy remains a priority for our branch. Continuous feedback from customers helps us refine our approach, ensuring we consistently deliver the best possible service experience.

Our Expertise and Specialization

Our Saskatoon branch stands out for its highly experienced staff, whose combined expertise spans Projects, Lighting, and PAC. Our strong counter service continues to distinguish us within the region. A key differentiator is our PAC specialization, introduced when the Intec Controls team joined EB Horsman in 2018—a strength that remains central to our success today.

One of our branch’s most valued services is custom in-branch wire cutting, which provides precise wire lengths quickly and conveniently. This service saves time on the job site, reduces material waste, and helps keep projects on schedule.

Industries & Products We Serve

Saskatchewan is known for its agricultural base, but it also holds 27% of Canada’s conventional oil reserves and approximately 25% of Canada’s tar sands. Additionally, the province has some of the highest-grade uranium depositsin the world and leads globally in potash deposits, mining, and exporting.

Beyond natural resources, Saskatchewan has a strong scientific research base, with Canada’s first synchrotron test facility attracting global scientists and companies. The province is moving towards refining products locally, driving growth in industrial, commercial, and residential construction.

Community Involvement

The Saskatoon staff participate and volunteer their time with several different groups in Saskatoon and the surrounding area. We are involved with:

  • Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital
  • Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Canadian Cancer Society
  • MS Society of Canada
  • Truth & Reconciliation Day of Understanding

The Saskatoon branch also hosts an annual Cinco De Mayo Customer Appreciation Event, which is a unique and well-loved event compared to the standard burger and BBQ gatherings. Our customers enjoy burritos, nachos, and Mexican refreshments, making it a standout event in the community.
