From Prairie Roots to Trusted Western Canadian Electrical Partner
As we celebrated our 125th year, we found ourselves looking back – not just to remember where we started, but to understand why we’re still here! Our history is a reflection of the values we celebrated all year long: local service, strong partnerships, and showing up for our communities.
EB Horsman started out as a tiny hardware shop in Moosomin, Saskatchewan in the early 1900s, later moving to Vancouver and evolving into a dedicated electrical wholesaler for a growing Western Canada.
Over the decades, we expanded our branch network, added distribution centres, and grew into a trusted partner for contractors, industrial customers, and institutions across B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Marking 125 Years Together: How We Celebrated
To mark our 125th year, every EB Horsman branch hosted celebrations with customers, suppliers, and industry partners. From Vancouver Island to Alberta, and throughout B.C.’s Interior and North, teams opened their doors to share meals, stories, and appreciation for the relationships that have supported us for generations.

Successful trade shows in Vernon and Prince George, bringing together local customers, suppliers, and staff for in-person demos, training, and celebrations.

Oktoberfest gatherings in Calgary and Edmonton – two lively gatherings that brought together customers, suppliers, and our Alberta teams for great food, great conversation, and a toast to the next 125 years.

A 125th anniversary celebration where we recognized the supplier partners who help us deliver the very best selection, service, and technical support to our customers every single day.

A special anniversary celebration with MNP, Deloitte, Scotiabank, and Marsh, recognizing the business community around us that has supported EBH’s growth.
Honouring Our Legacy, One Branch at a Time
Throughout the year, we shared a series of “125-Year Legacy Spotlight” posts on our website, each one highlighting a different EBH branch and the team members who make it work and thrive. These stories showcased:

The coastal roots of our Courtenay, Duncan, Victoria and Campbell River branches – including the unveiling, at our Campbell River facility, of a beautiful mural by Adam Lewis, a highly respected Kwakwaka’wakw artist from Cape Mudge.

Each spotlight reminded us that while our locations span Western Canada, our identity is rooted in one shared culture: a belief in local service, deep product expertise, and strong community relationships.
Giving Back to the Communities That Support Us
This year also included meaningful moments of giving, such as National Cable Specialists’ $25,000 donation to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, made in honour of EBH’s 125th anniversary. Acts like this reflect the spirit of generosity and community involvement that have defined our company for generations.
