In a production environment, it’s crucial to have a clear understanding of what’s happening within a machine, production line, or entire plant. The need for comprehensive plant information is significant, ranging from access to production data to minimizing downtimes. How do you bring it all together? You need optimal operator guidance, quick intervention capabilities, access to production data with real-time evaluation, reliable tracking of operational actions, and of course, reduced downtimes. A high degree of standardization is key. Essential plant components should be well-coordinated while still allowing for the integration of new components.
For tasks like operator guidance, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) functionality is crucial. A uniform device landscape across the plant, along with a standardized approach to engineering and graphics, allows operators to quickly grasp the situation and respond efficiently. Access to all relevant production data is equally important, as it enhances plant operation and efficiency. Proper analysis and visualization of this data, such as through an HMI Panel, create transparency, reveal optimization potential, and support informed decision-making for adjusting the production process.
Meeting these diverse requirements across various applications is achievable. Siemens is setting a new benchmark with the launch of their HMI Unified Basic Panels. These panels, equipped with multi-touch technology, are optimized for industrial environments and are available in four display sizes ranging from 4″ to 12″. Despite the size variations, all models share the same performance, hardware interfaces, and functionality. Operators will appreciate the brilliant display with its excellent readability, enhanced by static and dynamic SVG graphics that improve the visualization of critical data. Plus, flexible remote access ensures that production data is accessible anytime, anywhere.
Seamless Integration with WinCC Unified Software: Another significant advantage is the integration of the associated WinCC Unified software within the TIA Portal, ensuring seamless data and communication integration during configuration, even with other Siemens controllers and HMI devices.
Cost-Effective and Installation-Compatible: Though categorized as Basic Panels, these devices are designed for a cost-sensitive market without compromising functionality. If you’re considering upgrading from previous Basic Panels to the Unified Panels, the good news is that minimal redesign of your control cabinet is needed, as the devices are largely installation-compatible. Should you require higher performance, the Unified Comfort Panels offer an easy upgrade path while maintaining compatibility in display and integration.
