Accelerate Action: Celebrating Women in the Electrical Industry

International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 is more than just a celebration—it’s a call to action. This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” highlights the urgent need to eliminate barriers and biases that hinder gender equality. At the current rate, full gender parity won’t be achieved until 2158, according to the World Economic Forum. That timeline is too long.

At EB Horsman & Son, we recognize the incredible contributions of women in the electrical and construction industries. From leadership roles to technical expertise, women are shaping the future of our field. But we also acknowledge the challenges that remain—whether it's access to opportunities, workplace biases, or industry representation. That’s why we are committed to accelerating action to support, empower, and uplift women in our industry.

Historically, the electrical industry has been male-dominated, but times are changing. More women than ever are stepping into leadership, technical, and trade roles.

• Women represent only 11% of the construction workforce, and even fewer—2.5%—hold skilled trade positions.
• Companies with diverse leadership teams outperform their competitors by 25% in profitability. 
• STEM fields are growing, but women still make up just 22% of the workforce in engineering-related fields. 

While the numbers show progress, they also highlight the urgent need to accelerate change.
