How E.B. Horsman Invests In The Planet
E.B. Horsman has undertaken various initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. Our streamlined warehouse management and ERP systems allow us to operate our central distribution warehouse in a nearly paperless environment. The central distribution warehouse also reduces waste and recycling needs by utilizing reusable shipping totes, crates, and mailbags. More of our recycling initiatives include food scraps, cans, plastic bottles, milk cartons, and paper with Urban Impact. The warehouse team appropriately disposes of more than 90% of plastic and cardboard. We have installed a trash compactor at our head office to reduce the number of truckloads of recyclable cardboard leaving the central distribution warehouse. Lighting fixtures, lamps, and metal are recycled at the central distribution warehouse and at all of the company’s other warehouses. We have electric-powered forklifts instead of gas-powered forklifts, reducing overall carbon emissions. The Head Office, Divisional Office, and branches have lighting controls that conserve energy, such as lighting that turns off automatically.
