EB Horsman’s 125-Year Legacy: Spotlight on Our Burnaby Branch

As EB Horsman & Son celebrates its 125th anniversary in the electrical industry, each branch plays a pivotal role in contributing to the company’s enduring legacy. This month, we’re thrilled to highlight our Burnaby branch, which just celebrated its 10th anniversary on December 13th. Over the past decade, this branch has been essential to both the local community and EB Horsman’s commitment to providing top-quality service and solutions.

Since opening its doors in 2014, the Burnaby branch has established itself as a key provider of electrical supplies, lighting solutions, automation, and more. Located at 3935 2nd Avenue, our Burnaby branch is situated locally, making it accessible to electrical contractors, builders, and industry professionals across the Greater Vancouver area. The current Customer Service Manager, Lawrence Dumont, has been with the company for 27 years, bringing invaluable experience to the branch’s operations. Along with a team of 15 experts, the Burnaby branch is well-versed in the specific needs of the Burnaby community and the surrounding tri-cities area, ensuring tailored solutions that meet each client’s requirements, including those in the marine industry.

The branch is deeply committed to supporting its community through various fundraising and customer-focused initiatives. Notable efforts include fundraising for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) through after-hours parking lot rentals to film and TV crews, proceeds from an in-office snack station, and hosting Jean Day BBQs. Additionally, our Burnaby branch has raised funds to provide scholarships for Indigenous youth. Moreover, the Burnaby branch actively hosts a wide range of customer-focused events, including counter days, food trucks, and pancake breakfasts, which not only offer a unique space for networking and fostering relationships within the community but also provide customers with the opportunity to discover and explore the latest products and innovations.

One standout feature is the tenure of our staff, for instance, team member Al Hamilton, who has been with the company for nearly 30 years and brings over 40 years of experience in the industry. Whether at the counter or in the inside sales room, our team members offer practical solutions and are ready to assist with any challenge. Since 1981, McRae Marine Electrical has been providing comprehensive electrical support for shipyards and vessel owners involved in new construction and major conversions across western Canada. The company’s core services include equipment supply, such as panel building; engineering, including functional design and production; installations, such as cable pulling, terminations, and equipment installation; and in-service support.

While there are no specific events currently planned for the 125th anniversary, the Burnaby branch recently celebrated its 10th anniversary on December 13th. This milestone was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team, and a moment to reflect on the branch’s impact over the past decade.
