E.B. Horsman & Son Announced as One of Canada's Best Managed Companies Again!
5th May 2021 | News
Surrey, BC – E.B. Horsman & Son - E.B. Horsman & Son (EBH), one of the fastest-growing, independently owned full-line electrical distributors in Western Canada, announced today that it is a 2021 winner of Canada’s Best Managed Companies Platinum Club designation, having retained its status for 12 consecutive years.
While 2020 was a challenging year for everyone, E.B. Horsman & Son accomplished this milestone as they celebrated 120 years in business, became an employee-owned company, and reached their fundraising goal of donating a cumulative total of $1 million dollars to BC Children’s Hospital.
With a focus on continuous improvement, EBH saw record eCommerce sales, expansion of their Surrey, BC Distribution Centre, and relocation of their Calgary branch, all while making company-wide changes to improve their customers’ and team’s safety. These are all examples of the strong, hands-on management that led EBH to once again qualify for the Best Managed Companies program.
“Respond, Recover and Thrive into the Future, that was the 2020 rally cry at E.B. Horsman & Son. We couldn’t be more proud of our empowered Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP) team for persevering through new challenges while maintaining the highest level of customer service and business management necessary to earn the Best Managed Platinum designation,” said Tim Horsman, President and CEO of E.B. Horsman & Son. “I’m very pleased that our organization passed the test, creating the safest work environment possible under tremendous adversity, and continuing to create win-win experiences for our customers, suppliers, employees, and the Western Canadian communities we serve.”
“This year’s Best Managed winners demonstrate the organizational grit required to thrive in these increasingly uncertain times,” said Peter Brown, Partner, Deloitte Private and Co-Leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. “By putting their people first, and showing the courage to experiment and take risks, they were able to overcome some of today's most pressing challenges. This year’s winners were able to succeed because they weren’t afraid to fail.”
The 2021 Best Managed program award winners are amongst the best-in-class of Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $25 million demonstrating leadership in the areas of strategy, capabilities and innovation, culture and commitment, and financials to achieve sustainable growth. Now in its 28th year, Canada’s Best Managed Companies remains one of the country’s leading business awards programs recognizing Canadian-owned and managed companies for innovative, world-class business practices. Every year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates the caliber of their management abilities and practices.
