EB Horsman’s 125-Year Legacy: Spotlight on Our Surrey Branch

As EB Horsman & Son celebrates 125 years of serving Western Canada, we’re proud to highlight our Surrey branch, one of our key locations with a rich history of service, dedication, and community engagement.

The EB Horsman Surrey branch has been a trusted supplier in the electrical industry since its opening in April 1987. Under the leadership of Area Manager Shane Smith, the branch has grown to a strong team of 15 employees who are committed to delivering exceptional service.

What sets our Surrey branch apart is its outstanding team, customer service, and a strong culture of support and collaboration. Our Surrey team's willingness to go the extra mile has helped us build long-lasting relationships with customers. The most popular products at this location include commercial electrical supplies such as steel/plastic boxes, Coreline/IPEX products, and breakers/panels.

EB Horsman has always believed in giving back, and our Surrey branch is no exception. Over the years, our Surrey Branch has helped raise over $100,000 for the local hospital and consistently participates in the Terry Fox Run. Some of our other community initiatives include:

• Jeans Day BBQ fundraiser, which raised $1,240
• BC Children’s Hospital Run, where we contributed $2,000
• Christmas Advent Calendar fundraiser, raising $600 for BC Children’s Hospital

Additionally, our Surrey branch regularly hosts Counter Mornings with suppliers such as Siemens, ABB, Southwire, Lutron, IPEX, Weidmüller, Leviton, Cooper Lighting, Liteline and Stanpro. These events allow us to connect with customers while providing valuable product knowledge.

Our Surrey branch has a proud legacy, with several employees dedicating decades of service to EB Horsman. This long-standing commitment reflects the branch’s strong work culture and dedication to excellence. One unique aspect of the Surrey branch’s history is that Tim Horsman, our current CEO and President—once worked at this location. This deep-rooted connection to the company’s leadership highlights the branch’s significance in our history.

The Surrey branch stands out with its specialized offerings, making it a go-to destination for unique customer needs. It provides tool rentals, including the ABB Crimper, giving customers access to essential equipment without the need for a full purchase. Additionally, the branch offers Advanced Driver Programming for ballasts, a service that was previously exclusive to the Burnaby location, further enhancing its technical capabilities. Beyond these specialized services, the Inside Sales & Account Managers work closely with the PAC & Lighting team to facilitate large orders, ensuring seamless quoting and procurement for customers. This collaborative approach allows the branch to provide tailored solutions while maintaining efficiency and exceptional service.
